Virtual Platform: Rethinking the Soviet Past – the post-Soviet Georgian society’s attitude towards the Soviet past and history is characterized in two ways: on the one hand – tabooing and erasing this epoch from memory, on the other hand – turning it into an idol, a myth, and feeling nostalgic.
 
The immediate aim of the project is to create educational resource with the help of web-technologies; to encourage discussions about totalitarianism, Stalinist repression and generally about Soviet period, and to raise the information awareness in public.

The following will be performed within the scope of the project:

 
1. A web-page of Soviet Past Research Laboratory will be created


2. Ten thematic discussions about Soviet past and experiences will be held and broadcast live via the internet on the following addresses:
http://www.livestream.com/sovlab. The videos of the discussions will be available on http://www.youtube.com/user/sovlab. The transcripts of the discussions will be available for the readers on: www.scribd.com/sovlab

3. With the aim of studying historical memory 10 interviews with people, whose families were affected by Soviet terror, will be recorded. The interviews are available on:
www.youtube.com/user/sovlab
