Soviet Past Research Laboratory
Soviet Past Research Laboratory offers you a thematic calendar for 2011. The idea of the project implied discovering houses, buildings and streets in the old part of Tbilisi, particularly in Mtatsminda and Sololaki, where the most important period of Soviet epoch – Stalinist repressions, known nowadays as the Big Terror – was taking place.
The entities included in the calendar are chosen from the number of houses and buildings of the route of “Red Terror Topography” tour, prepared by Soviet Past Research Laboratory. The list of entities, based on the principle of logical monthly links, includes 12 addresses where people who became victims of Soviet totalitarian system spent the last hours of their freedom or even life.
In this calendar you will also see the houses where the representatives or followers of the totalitarian system lived; one part of them later became victims of the system, while the other continued serving the punitive structures to the end. Former state institutions, buildings where repressions were held are included in the calendar.
